About Us
Debbie Shearer and Kristina Baumann became fast friends after discovering that they both owned horse companions with allergies and asthma. Big Tommy, the rescued NYC carriage horse, had work related health problems and Mariah, the beautiful chestnut quarter horse, had severe asthma. Green pastures, the Pochuck Creek and constant monitoring have restored their health, but the process ignited a long simmering idea to open a tack shop.
Sharing a love of horses and a belief that all life is sacred, Debbie and Kristina’s backgrounds are quite different. Debbie grew up on a Maryland horse farm. After spending 25 years with investment banking firms in NYC, she was anxious to get back to her roots and now owns a horse farm in Warwick with her husband, Jeff. Growing up in Queens, Kristina spent every summer at a horse stable in upstate NY while her family vacationed. She went on to major in Equine Management and Business in college and has spent the last eight years managing retail stores including a tack shop.
“Our vision is to not only establish a tack shop offering friendly service and broad selection of products at affordable prices, but to create an atmosphere of convenience that recognizes how busy our customers’ lives are today. We wish to inspire the young rider, partner with our customers and respond to their needs, focus on healthy and environmentally friendly products, and network with local rescue organizations.”
